■ Discussion Fracture of the occipital condyle is extremely rare. We found only 12 reported
cases. 3’4, 8-11 However this entity may be more frequent than appreciated since these
fractures are difficult to diagnose by conventional means. 4 Fracture of the occipital condyle
most probably results in early deaths after the trauma, so it may not be possible to diagnose
the entity. Alker and associates2 found fracture of the occipital condyle in only two patients in

In 1986, Matricali and Seminara [2] first reported a case with an aneurysm arising from the
medial branch of the superior cerebellar artery (SCA) although SCA aneurysms usually
appear along the central portion of this artery. We diagnosed and treated a case of a very
distally located superior cerebellar artery aneurysm which had some clinical and
radiological features distinct from the usual aneurysm cases, and we emphasize the
important clinical aspects regarding this type of aneurysm very rarely seen.
